Family Festival, Kites, Bikes & Music

Looking for a family friendly event this spring that promotes physical activity and hands on fun along with fabulous music? Consider the 2009 WACO Kites, Bikes &Music Festival, Saturday May 16th from 10am - 4pm at the WACO Air Museum, located between Troy and Tipp City at Historic WACO Field,1865 S. County Road 25A,Troy, Ohio. Parking fee is $5.00 per car and includes one free admission to the WACO Air Museum.
WACO Bike Tour 7am-12noon
The Miami County Fun Ride is a one-day event that starts and ends at WACO Field and takes you along the Miami County Bike Path. The event is a partnership of the WACO Historical Society and The Miami County Parks District. Bike tour registration includes admission to the WACO Air Museum.
“Wings On Strings” Family Kite Fly 10am-4pm
This event is sponsored by the Troy Noon Optimist Club and features “make and fly” kite activities, along with the annual kite contest. Prizes are awarded in various categories. Participants may use the kites they make at the event or bring their own kites.
WACO Music Festival 10am-4pm
Musical rhythms fly through the air during this homegrown event featuring local musicians on an outdoor stage. Drive, fly or ride in by bicycle† to join in the second annual WACO Music Festival. Please bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music.
Family Fun Activities10am-4pm
Area non-profit organizations will provide stations with a variety of activities for festival attendees to experience and enjoy.
WACO Air Museum 10am-5pm
Museum admission is $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for Students 6-18, 6 and under free. The WACO Air Museum showcases new and expanded museum exhibits which include the WACO primary glider, 1902 Wright Brothers Glider replica, the 1923WACO 4, the WACO Cootie replica, the Mackey Taperwing, and a WACO UPF-7. Many spectacular photo murals grace the walls of the 7500 square foot facility. Additional exhibits feature some of the thousands of rare WACO photographs held by the WACO Historical Society and numerous WACO factory and WWII WACO combat glider artifacts and photos. The museum also features 10 WACO RC models, some interactive displays, a museum theater /classroom, numerous WACO and other vintage aircraft scale models, radial aircraft engines, vintage propellers, a museum archive library and a museum gift shop you will want to explore.
